Abstract
Objective: Several monosyllabic and bisyllabic words lists were developed for speech audiometry in Korea for decades. Many irregularities were observed in previous survey. This study aimed to investigate the actual conditions of the lists, especially their origins and variations.

Materials and Methods : The study materials were collected from 80 training hospitals in Korea. The collected words lists were sorted and compared with one another. They were grouped to maximize common words.

Results: Three most common lists and their original references were identified. However, many episodic variations were also observed.

Conclusion: Although the reasons of the variations were unclear, they were speculated to be errors in reading or copying the lists.
